Attending the ARD Youth Media Day

Barack Obama dances with Angela Merkel on the beach, Christian Lindner explains the recent election defeat of his FDP with allegedly manipulated ballpoint pens and Barack Obama calls Trump a complete idiot in a video - unbelievable, but true or not? People used to say: "I saw it with my own eyes, it must be true!" In times of artificial intelligence, this is outdated, as it is becoming increasingly difficult to expose fake photos and videos. None of the events mentioned above really happened, they were created with the help of computer programs and machine learning to deceive people with false information. As young people and children are increasingly becoming the focus of so-called fake news, the ARD Youth Media Day responded with a special on artificial intelligence on November 15 this year. As every year, we at TRIAS Schulen Elsterberg took part, and our fifth, sixth and eighth graders learned how artificial intelligence can be used to produce a chart hit even though the performer can't sing, and how politicians and journalists will have to deal with the risk of every photo or video coming from a computer in the future. The latest trend, Chatgpt, was also discussed and its opportunities and dangers examined. This is a chatbot that people can ask anything and which then knows how to give increasingly intelligent answers. The Youth Media Day also addressed the fact that pupils should not just rely on this digital helper for their homework.
